WrestleMania 39 (Night Two) | Results & Grades
The following are the RESULTS and my GRADES for Night Two of WrestleMania 39.
Singles Match
Brock Lesnar def. Omos
COMMENTS
Not much to write about here.
Brock sold well for Omos most of the match, making him look solid.
In the end, Brock hit a few german suplexes and hit an F-5 to win.
It was the perfect scenario for what the match was meant to be.
Well executed.

Women's WrestleMania Showcase
Ronda Rousey
Shayna Baszler
def.
Chelsea Green
Sonya Deville,
Natalya
Shotzi,
Raquel Rodriguez
Liv Morgan
COMMENTS
Again, not much to write at all with this match.
It what simply done to put people on the card for Mania, much like the Men's Showcase match from the night before.
The difference here is, the Men very much delivered in the short amount of time they were given.
Not taking anything away from the lady performers here on Night 2, but they didn't do much at all with the short amount of time they were given.
I mean... that's why they labeled this a 'Showcase'.
Not many fun spots at all, a real basic match.
Ronda did one move and won the match. Okay.
Bleh.

Intercontinental Championship
(Triple Threat Match)
Gunther (c)
def. Drew McIntyre,
Sheamus
COMMENTS
Match of the night. By far. It was perfect.
Props to Gunther, Drew and Sheamus for putting on one of the very best Intercontinental Championship matches I've ever witnessed. It absolutely delivered on every level imaginable.
These are the type of matches I wanna see more and more of.
It's going to show that Triple H really does care about the mid card titles. Rightfully so.
I'd say this will go down as one of the Match of the Year candidates at year end.
Grade: A+
RAW Women's Championship
Bianca Belair (c) def. Asuka
COMMENTS
This was another great match after the IC title bout.
Although, I do believe this should have gone to Asuka, which now makes Asuka haven't won any matches at WrestleMania. Really an awful thing for her.
Nonetheless, great match... wrong winner.
You win some, you lose some. Truly.
Grade: B+
Singles Match
(filler segment)
Snoop Dogg (w/ Shane McMahon)
def. The Miz
COMMENTS
It was good to see Shane back. I've always liked him. Cool moment.
Shane, however, when the match started with Miz, got injured after doing a hurdle spot over Miz.
This caused Snoop Dogg to come back in the ring (him and Miz cut a promo before) and punch Miz, then punched Miz again knocking him out. Snoop hit a Dogg's Elbow.. if you will. Haha.
Snoop pinned Miz for an awfully awkward filler segment/match.
Props to Snoop for improvising on the spot after the injury to Shane.
Grade: D-
Hell in a Cell
Edge def. Finn Balor
COMMENTS
Both entrances for Edge and Balor were awesome.
Edge beat Balor after a lengthy and chaotic match. At one point, Balor got busted open by a ladder shot from Edge and the match basically paused while the medic team attended to Balor to stitch him up.
The crowd booed this moment. Understandable.
Once Balor got back in it, the match picked up a bit and Balor tried to hit Edge with a Coup de Grace through the table and Edge rolled out of the way, Balor went through the table. Cool spot.
In the end, Edge hit the spear onto Balor and won the match.
Initially, I was against Edge winning and thought Balor needed it. But then I remembered Edge lost the 'I Quit' match the two had back at Extreme Rules. So it makes sense for Edge to end it here with a win.
So now, I'm cool with it.
Really fun and chaotic match. I was entertained by it.
Grade: B+
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (c) def. Cody Rhodes
COMMENTS
This was a very controversial match, for its ending of course.
I, for one, am definitely glad Roman retained the title, because I'm selfish and I want him to reach the 1,000 day mark as Universal Champion. I mean, he might as well... he's right there.
I loved the story they told with people believing Cody was indeed THE ONE to dethrone such an iconic championship reign. The story for this match has been phenomenal, and I don't think it's over by a long shot. As it shouldn't be. Let's keep this thing going. I'm all in.
WWE definitely wants to market the hell out of Reigns' 1,000 day mark and they'd be stupid not to.
WWE is great with their marketing and Reigns as World Champion for 1,000 days is the most impressive thing that has happened in the company for MANY years.
If Cody did win, it would have felt very underwhelming to me, because he just came back a year ago.
Cody's story and chase continues and thats the most logical way it should be.
He's not going to beat Roman Reigns, who has dominated the company for 3 years, in just one shot.
No... you have to play this out.. at least until Summerslam, which I expect to happen.
From here, Cody can win the Money in the Bank or they can stay on course with him trying to take out Roman until they do a title split portion of the story and Cody beats Roman for the WWE Title.
At the end of the day.. Cody wants the WWE Championship. He's expressed that enough in the past, since returning. He wants the WWE Title. That's the title he will win.
If Cody is the one to win the MITB case, then I suspect he will cash in on Roman for just the WWE Championship and he'll do that at Summerslam.
That's my guess as to what I think will happen.
But, that's later on.
As for this main event match at WrestleMania 39, I give it a huge thumbs up.
Reigns winning was the right call to continue Cody's push towards his 'dream'.
Let's keep the train rolling... I'm in.
