Money in the Bank (2023) | Results & Grades

The following are the RESULTS and my GRADES for WWE Money in the Bank 2023.

Men's Money in the Bank
(Ladder match)
Damian Priest
def. Logan Paul,
Butch,
LA Knight,
Shinsuke Nakamura,
Santos Escobar
& Ricochet

COMMENTS
Pretty solid MITB match, nothing very fancy at all with it. LA Knight was the odds on favorite the whole match, Logan Paul was the biggest heel throughout. Neither won, so that was a bit shocking to me. Just when it seemed LA Knight had the match won, Damian Priest snuck in and squashed expectations. Fair match, but there wasn't much to it. Not one of the better ones.

GRADE: C+

WWE Women's Tag Team Championships
Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez
def. Ronda Rousey (c) & Shayna Baszler (c)

COMMENTS
Very interesting ending to this match, with Shayna turning on Ronda in the middle of a match. I didn't expect this to happen quite yet, but it was a shocker nonetheless. Very interesting to see where this goes and it seems we're getting Ronda vs Shayna at Summerslam. The match overall was very basic and came off more as a 'tv match' overall. Nothing particularly good about it - it is what it is.

GRADE: C-

Intercontinental Championship
Gunther (c) def. Matt Riddle

COMMENTS
A pretty short match here, which surprised me a lot. Most of the time, the IC title matches get some solid length to 'em, but not this time around. I'm not sure if Riddle has something going on behind the scenes we don't know about or whatever the case may be. Gunther won in about 7 or 8 minutes. Interesting. Solid enough match for the time length it ended up being. Gunther pretty much beat the shit out of Riddle the entire time. Riddle got a little offense throughout, but not much at all to write home about. Drew McIntyre made his return after the match. The first time we've seen him since Wrestlemania. Looks like we're getting McIntyre vs Gunther at Summerslam. Good call.

GRADE: C

Singles Match
Cody Rhodes def. Dominik Mysterio

COMMENTS
Pretty much what everyone expected this match to be, an easy Cody win. Dom Dom got some heelish offense throughout and had 'Mami' there to try and guide him to a win - but it wasn't meant to be. Cody hit 'cross rhodes' in the end to pick up the easy 8-9 minute win.

GRADE: C+

Women's Money in the Bank
(Ladder match)
Iyo Sky
def. Bayley,
Becky Lynch,
Trish Stratus,
Zoey Stark
& Zelina Vega

COMMENTS
Not going to lie, this was much better than the men's MITB match from earlier. I liked quite a few of the spots throughout the match, everyone got their moments to shine. I liked it. I enjoyed the creative ending with Iyo handcuffing Bayley and Becky together on the ladder so she can climb up and get the briefcase. I liked that a lot. Zelina had a nice moment hitting a 'code red' off the ladder, I believe it was Zoey she hit it onto, I already forget. But it was a cool spot nonetheless. Really good match.

GRADE: A

World Heavyweight Championship
Seth "Freakin" Rollins (c) def. Finn Balor

COMMENTS
Good match between Finn and Rollins here. A lot of offense from Balor throughout, clearly giving himself a really good showing (which he did). Rollins got his licks in too quite a bit, but Balor really shined in this match overall. I was impressed. Damian Priest came out with the MITB briefcase towards the ending of the match, teasing a cash-in a little bit. Priest acted like he was going to hop in the ring once Balor was on the top turnbuckle going for his finisher, but Priest distracted Balor and Balor looked confused towards Priest. Balor went to hit Rollins with his finisher, but Rollins rolled out of the way and hit a 'curb stomp' onto Balor for the win. Rollins retains. Good match. This was also a shorter match, it was bout 10 or so minutes.

GRADE: B

Bloodline Civil War
(Tag Team Match)
Jey Uso
Jimmy Uso
(The Usos)
def.
Roman Reigns
Solo Sikoa
(The Bloodline)
(w/ Paul Heyman)

COMMENTS
This was definitely the match of the night. What a story this has been between the Bloodline. In the end, Jey Uso pinned Roman Reigns to pick up the win for The Usos. This is the first time Reigns has been pinned in any kind of match in over 3 years. Incredible. The storytelling was perfect in this match and the results was the right way to go. Reigns now has shown he can be defeated. It looks like Jey Uso vs Roman Reigns is the route they are going for Summerslam in August. That's the right call and it fits the story perfectly. I doubt Jey will be the one to defeat Reigns for the title, but this match will be a great main event to cap off the Summer. Really great stuff here and we roll on with the best wrestling storyline going today. By the way, this match went about 32 minutes. Great timing, pacing and story. Excellent all around.

GRADE: A+

FINAL COMMENTS
Another solid PLE from WWE this year, not the best overall, but the 'Bloodline Civil War', John Cena's surprise appearance and the women's MITB match saved it from being a fairly mediocre event. Just my opinion on it. The London crowd was beautiful and passionate throughout. I love the UK fans and crowds.
