Worlds Collide (2022) | Results & Grades

The following are the RESULTS and my GRADES for NXT Worlds Collide 2022.

MAIN CARD
NXT North American Championship
CARMELO HAYES (c)
def.
Ricochet

COMMENTS
A very awesome start to Worlds Collide with Carmelo Hayes and Ricochet trading flips, dives, spots, whatever tickles your fanciness. Hayes and Ricochet put on an instant classic and I did NOT want the match to end at all! These two were literally meant to wrestle each other for life.
Hayes continues his reign as North American Champion by taking out a former North American and Intercontinental Champion in Ricochet. I can't wait for Hayes to come to the main roster and create some more magic with the best of the best.

NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championships Unification
PRETTY DEADLY
def.
The Creed Brothers (c)
Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs (c)
& Gallus

COMMENTS
Another solid match, this time from the Men's tag team division. Pretty Deadly in the end got the W, but not without a fight. I was impressed with all four teams in this match, each showing why the Tag Team Championships are important to them and why they should be important. Very well done.
Although I predicted Creed Brothers to get the W, my guys Pretty Deadly got the job done and in... chaotic fashion. Towards the end of the match, it came down to Pretty Deadly and The Creed Brothers - with the other two teams coming back out and brawling with one another, the ref got knocked down. It was chaos.
During all of this, in the ring, Damon Kemp of Diamond Mine came into the match and took out one of the Pretty Deadly duo and it looked like the Creed's were on their way to unify the titles - but Damon Kemp turned on the Creed's and left. Elton Prince of Pretty Deadly capitalized on the opportunity and got the win for his team. Really entertaining match and shenanigans. I dug it.

GRADE: A

NXT and NXT UK Women's Championship Unification
MANDY ROSE (NXT)
def.
Meiko Satomura (NXT UK)
&
Blaire Davenport

COMMENTS
A solid women's match from this triple threat. Meiko and Rose worked with one another really well. Davenport got her licks in and was basically playing a "third wheel" type scenario, and played it well. Rose and Meiko were the more dominant of the trio here, with Meiko getting in some great offense and defense throughout. Rose playing the top heel did her performance well.
I like Davenport, but she felt very off for the most part in this match. I felt she wasn't needed here. Meiko and Rose played off one another really well and Davenport felt wasted to me. I don't know what it was, but it didn't take away from the match as a whole. It was a great match from the ladies and Rose picked up the win after hitting Kiss from a Rose on both Meiko and Davenport.

GRADE: B+

NXT Women's Tag Team Championship
KATANA CHANCE
KAYDEN CARTER (c)
def.
Doudrop
Nikki A.S.H.

COMMENTS
By far the weakest match on the card, by result. Although, it had some fun moments. I really like the team of Katana and Kayden, they work well with one another. They remind me a bit of a female Hardy Boyz type team. Kayden would be Jeff and Katana would be Matt. I get that vibe from them a lot as I'm watching. MSK was a lot like that too. Miss those guys.
All four ladies worked nicely with each other, though not the best chemistry in all. It was a great match to set up the vibe of the main event. Well done, ladies. Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) got involved towards the end and caused a roadblock for Nikki and Doudrop to pick up the win.

GRADE: C

NXT and NXT UK Championship Unification
BRON BREAKKER (NXT)
def.
Tyler Bate (NXT UK)

COMMENTS
Really strong main event match to end the show. Bate and Breakker work extremely well together, then again... Tyler Bate can work well with just about anyone. What a talented kid. You'd think Bate has been wrestling for 20 years or so, but he's only 25. The crowd was hot for Bate the whole match, though Bron had his base.
Breakker hit the spear onto Bate to pick up the W and unify the World championships. Very nicely done and he was the right choice to win. Bate is a badass, but he's not going anywhere. Bate should be on the main roster within a month or so. Unless they're going for a rematch between Bate and Bron.
